Basic First Aid - An awareness course detailing management of basic injuries such as broken bones, bleeding, and burns, and medical emergencies such as diabetes, seizures, and heart attack. A suitable course for new parents, daycare providers, and others interested in basic emergency management

Advanced First Aid - A detailed course outlining treatment of patients suffering a wide variety of injury and medical problems, vital signs, and oxygen administration. Advanced first aid relies heavily on practical sessions where students demonstrate and refine skills by treating simulated patients. Ideal choice for municipal responders, MERT teams, and others needing more sophisticated training.

CPR (Infant & Child) - Background on child safety and injury prevention, common pediatric problems and techniques for Infant & Child CPR (ages 0 - 8). Management for choking is also taught. Popular with new parents, grandparents, and daycare providers - 4 - 5 Hours

Burn Treatment

1.      Remove the victim from any smoke or fumes
2.      If the victims clothing are on fire, roll the victim repeatedly to smother the flames.
3.      Do not remove burned clothing once the flames have been extinguished.
4.      For small burns, ice or cold water will stop further tissue damage and lessen the pain.

Bites and stings

  1.  If breathing difficulties develop dial 9-1-1.
  2. If bite or sting occurs on fingers or hand remove any jewelry in case of swelling.
  3. Apply a cold compress.
  4.  If stung by a bee or wasp, carefully remove the stinger with a        straight edge such as a credit card.
  5.  If snakebite occurs remove binding clothes and jewelry, wash with soap and water and go to the nearest hospital.
  6.  Do not apply tourniquet (can result in loss of limb).

Home Safety

1.      Keep soaps, cleaners, insecticides, detergents, and       medicines away from children.
2.      Place child restraint latches on cabinets.
3.      Remove toxic plants from your home.
4.      Post the poison control telephone number near the telephone.
5.     If poison is swallowed and the victim is able to swallow, give only water.  Do not induce vomiting and call 9-1-1.
6.      Never call medicine candy to entice a child.

Eye Injury

1.      Wear protective eyewear.
2.      Flush eyes with water only if chemical splash in face.
3.      If trauma occurs to the eye go to the nearest hospital.

1.      Do not swim alone.
2.      Do not leave small children unattended in restrooms.
3.      Learn how to swim.
